With the temperature now starting to drop, the onset of barbecue season is upon us. And what does every good barbecue need, that’s right a great burger! Try out to make this recipe for your barbecues since there wont be any left at the end of the day which is always a good sign. The recipe makes 6 to 8 burgers depending how thick you like them.
For the Burgers
500g of minced beef
1 cup of breadcrumbs
1/2 a medium onion -finely chopped
1 teaspoon of Wostershire sauce
1 teaspoon of dried mixed herbs
1 cup extra mature grated or sliced cheddar or blue cheese
rolls or burger buns
Ketchup or mayonnaise
Heat your bbq or griddle pan to a medium heat.
Place all the burger ingredients into a large bowl, using your hands thoroughly mix all the ingredients together. The mixture should be quite moist but not at all runny. Divide the mixture into balls and flatten with your hands to create the burger patties. Place on the bbq and cook for 5 minutes each side for a medium finish or 7 minutes for well done (cooking times vary depending on thickness, these times are for burgers 3/4 inch thick.) For the last one minute of the cooking time top the burgers with some of the cheese and allow the heat of the burger to melt it a little.
Put one burger into each roll with a little lettuce, a slice of tomato and any other of your favorite toppings and sauces.
